Main project tasks include
A) DRB Water Resources and Basin Study consists of four background studies and database
- Regional Hydrological Study,
- Localized Minimum Ecological/Environmental/Maintenance/Duty Flow Study,
- Initial Sediment, Riverbed and River Bank Studies,
- Initial Surface and Groundwater Temperature Study,
- Database of Torrential Flows (Streams).
B) Hydraulic and Hydrologic Modelling for the DRB Including Optimization of Reservoir Operation
The main objective of these activities is the establishment and operation of a suitable, jointly endorsed hydrological real-time and hydraulic simulation model combined with a climate change impact module.
The set of modelling activities is sub-divided as follows
- Hydrological modelling;
- Hydraulic modelling;
- Reservoir operation;
- Sediment- river morphology simulation.
- Real time optimization of reservoir operation
The integration of HEC-HMS, HEC ResSim, and HEC RAS models will be performed in HEC-RTS software (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Institute of Water Resources, Hydrologic Engineering Center, Davis, CA).
HEC-RTS for the Drina River Basin will be supported by the developed Acquisition Module specifically created for this Project, which will be used for automatic collection of the hydrometeorological data observed in the basin.
The developed hydrological and hydraulic models, as well as, the reservoir simulation model will be integrated into a unique platform so that they can be used as off-line Client support.
C) The GIS database will contain all collected data and results of the project activities, including results derived from the developed tools.
Major deliverables include
A) Reports
- Inception report
- 1st Progress report
- 2nd Progress report
- Final report
- GIS user manual
- Training materials
B) Developed models integrated in comprehensive platform
- Integrated model in HEC-RTS with Acquisition Module
- GIS database in QGIS
- GIS tools
